Lythgoe Under Fire for Gay ‘Dance’ Comments

Judge Nigel Lythgoe on Fox's 'So You Think You Can Dance: Season 5'

TV big shot Nigel Lythgoe has come under fire from gay-rights activists — over his comments on talent contest So You Think You Can Dance.

The Brit, who is a judge on the show and an executive producer on American Idol, hit out at contestants Misha Belfer and Mitchel Kibel after they performed a same-sex samba routine.

In the show’s season premiere on Thursday, Lythgoe told the pair, “I think you probably alienate a lot of our audience. I mean, we’ve always had the guys dance together on the show, but they’ve never really done it in each other’s arms before.

“Do you know what? I’d like to see you both dancing with a girl.”

After the show, Lythgoe also backed-up his comments on the panel by taking to his online blog, writing: “The same-sex ballroom guys did remind me of Blades of Glory. However, I’m not a fan of Brokeback ballroom.”

But his comments have been blasted by officials at gay-rights group GLAAD, who are demanding an apology from the TV titan.

GLAAD president Neil G. Giuliano says, “It’s unacceptable for this kind of blatant homophobia to occur. Fox Entertainment and Nigel Lythgoe owe Misha, Mitchel and the whole LGBT community an apology

Moore to Tackle the Economy

Michael Moore in the press room at the 2008 Producers Guild Awards. Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA. 02-02-08

Oscar-winning documentary maker Michael Moore is working on his next exposé — about the global economic meltdown.

After attacking gun users in Bowling for Columbine, George W. Bush in Fahrenheit 9/11, and the healthcare system in Sicko, Moore is now turning his attention to the mega-rich who brought the world’s economies to their knees.

Moore — who won an Oscar for Bowling for Columbine — says, “The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn’t have enough wealth. They wanted more — a lot more. So they systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money. Now, why would they do this? That is what I seek to discover in this movie.”

The new documentary is due for release in October

No Follow-Up to Fawcett Documentary

Farrah Fawcett at The 'Late Night With David Letterman ' Show. New York City, USA - 04/06/05

Farrah Fawcett‘s partner Ryan O’Neal has changed his mind about releasing a second documentary about the ailing actress’ cancer battle.

The Charlie’s Angels star allowed cameras to chart her struggle with anal cancer ever since she was first diagnosed with the disease in 2006, and almost nine million people tuned into Farrah’s Story when it aired last week.

O’Neal subsequently claimed to be working on a follow-up to the harrowing show, which was reportedly bought by TV network NBC for $5 million.

He told reporters, “We haven’t stopped filming and we’re going to make a second installment of her life eventually.”

But now the actor insists plans for a follow-up have been scrapped.

A representative for O’Neal tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, “There are no plans for a second documentary at this time.”

Reinhardt Is Planning Hilton Proposal

Reinhardt Is Planning Hilton Proposal

Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt at the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival - Day 8 Premiere of 'Inglourious Basterds'. Cannes, France - 05/20/09

Paris Hilton‘s boyfriend Doug Reinhardt has confirmed that he plans to ask the socialite to marry him.

Hilton has been dating the baseball player since earlier this year, following her split from rocker Benji Madden in late 2008.

The pair was recently rumored to be considering walking down the aisle.

And now Reinhardt has confirmed rumors of an imminent proposal — insisting he will wed the hotel heiress.

He tells British newspaper the Mail on Sunday, “I am going to ask her to marry me but I can’t say when. I don’t want to ruin the surprise.”

A source adds, “They have been dating for five months and Doug has already said he’s going ask Paris to marry him in a couple of months. He doesn’t see the point in waiting around. He will ask her to marry him this summer.”

Hilton was previously engaged to model Jason Shaw before they split in 2003. She also broke off plans to wed Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis in 2005.
